Williamsburg Run for the Dream Half

Started by Steven C Overgard. Last reply by Daphne Edwards Jun 3, 2014. 1 Reply

This great race is usually held on the first weekend of June. This year they fixed the parking problem and the race started at the Williamsburg Visitor Center. Since the weather in June can be hot and humid, the race kicks off at 7:00 AM. The course winds through Colonial Williamsburg, then to Carters Grove Country Road nature area.  There is some elevation changes so be prepared for some hill climbing on the way back to the historic areas of Colonial Williamsburg. The race concludes at the…Continue

If ever in the Denver, Colorado area in May look into the Colfax Marathon & Half Marathon.Ran the half marathon there this past weekend and a very nice course, lots of people (7000 runners), nice family finish area with vendors and very well organized. The course starts at City Park in Denver and runs through and around the park for the first two miles. At mile two you enter the Denver Zoo and run past the various wildlife and birds for an entire mile. You then enter onto a street lined…Continue

Dismal Swamp Stomp Half Marathon

Started by Steven C Overgard Apr 14, 2014. 0 Replies

If you are free for this event next year, mark it down in your race schedule. Despite the name, there is no swamp running or slogging through anything gooey, slimy, or stinky.  The reality is it is a dead flat almost straight out and straight back course all on pavement. There are ample water stops every few miles and there are mile markers every mile so you can easily keep track of how many more clicks to go. The fastest runner turned in a time a few seconds under 1:05.  I saw him come BACK…Continue

The Dipsea

Posted by Daniel Zelinski on June 17, 2014 at 6:06pm 0 Comments

Running the Dipsea was a privilege - hopefully I'll get to do it again someday. And, next time I won't have to start in the very back (it is staggered with the fastest runners starting last).

Here's a video tour of the "course" - it is officially a point to point race - however you want to get to the beach (by foot); i.e., shortcuts are permitted.…

News and Updates

If you have an article that you'd like to submit for our next newsletter, please send it to by 01/23. Thanks!

TCRR will host the annual New Year's Day Bash at 0900, January 1st, 2015. The venue is the same as last year. For directions, click here. (Please note that the Temple Avenue Gate on the Ordnance Campus will be closed for the holidays Dec. 22 - Jan. 4).

Again we will have a "predict your time" 5K and 10K - anyone can win! The 5K and 10k courses will be mostly flat.

Please bring a dish to share with others - TCRR will provide water, soda, and some adult beverages - including a champagne toast to the New Year! As always, families are welcome and encouraged to attend - a great way to get some fitness activities in before the ball games begin! Contact Joan Kramer or James Vardy for additional information if necessary. It is now much easier to access Fort Lee - all you need for entry is a valid driver's license - but be sure you have vehicle registration and insurance information available if necessary.

It was great to see so many TCRRers out this morning! And it was nice of Mother Nature to hold off the rain for us. :)

The results have been posted. To see them, you can go to Race Results->2014 Results, or click here

Due to club renovations, the 5k has been cancelled for this year. But watch for it next year - they plan to bring it back!/td>
