This great race is usually held on the first weekend of June. This year they fixed the parking problem and the race started at the Williamsburg Visitor Center. Since the weather in June can be hot and humid, the race kicks off at 7:00 AM. The course winds through Colonial Williamsburg, then to Carters Grove Country Road nature area. If ever in the Denver, Colorado area in May look into the Colfax Marathon & Half Marathon.Ran the half marathon there this past weekend and a very nice course, lots of people (7000 runners), nice family finish area with vendors and very well organized. The course starts at City Park in Denver and runs through and around the park for the first two miles. If you are free for this event next year, mark it down in your race schedule. Despite the name, there is no swamp running or slogging through anything gooey, slimy, or stinky. The reality is it is a dead flat almost straight out and straight back course all on pavement. There are ample water stops every few miles and there are mile markers every mile so you can easily keep track of how many more clicks to go. Running the Dipsea was a privilege - hopefully I'll get to do it again someday. And, next time I won't have to start in the very back (it is staggered with the fastest runners starting last).
