Running Strong Since 1980
What do you do in your non-running life?
I always enjoy the outdoors so when not working or running I am working in the yard! For some reason as I get older my yard seems to be getting bigger so there is always something to do. My other non-running activity is chasing behind the 3 great nephews & 1 great niece. Now older they are involved in a lot of actives so much that I can be seen changing clothes in the fun run parking lot, to go to a football or basketball game and in summer there is soccer.
How did you get involved in running?
About 28 years ago I had just stopped smoking and felt like I could do anything, so I tried running. I only got 3 blocks before having to sit down due to lack of oxygen. I join the “Y” and started swimming until one day I ventured over to the high school track and said I’m going to walk and run a mile. I was able to run a full mile without stopping and have been running every since.
What motivates you to run? I love how I feel when running.
What is your favorite race distance? When I was younger I loved the 10 mile races. Now any race I do is my favorite.
At a typical TCRR race, you can find me working a printer timer at the finish line.
